Last stop .. Ezra Pound ... with all the beautiful young things. A cute little bar with a good range of cocktails. I had a gin based, he had vodka based. The theatre of making a cocktail makes for an interesting wait for your drink. None too cheap but it was a great end to date night before an Uber ride home. Looking forward to breakfast ...

... From there to here ... The Globe ... where we had a few bubbles (I have sparkly white and he had a beer) with home made sausage rolls and fries. The contrast in just 10 short minutes ... The service was ok, the atmosphere fine for a late evening drink and then we were off again ...

Next stop ... Andaluz Bar and Tapas. What a great little place this is. Absolutely no complaints at all. The service was excellent, from walking in the door to paying the bill. Apparently we are a "lovely couple". The atmosphere is subtle but different. It's like stepping back in time. We had the special cocktails with vodka and ginger. Yummo. Our tapas was croquettes (to die for) and beef strips (a bit salty but a very generous serve for tapas). I don't think you can go past this place and I think we should have eaten more rather than heading off to the next spot ...

Embargo Bar
This was our first stop on date night. We Uber'ed into town so we could just have fun and go from place to place without worrying about getting home. Embargo Bar is a great pop up spot and we had a fabulous cocktail on the roof top as the sun set and the city lights came on. It had been a hot day so the breeze was refreshing and relaxing. A night without kids. I owe the PT big time ... |
Bigfoot bar - Hirafu, Niseko, Japan
The Newby and I headed here, discretely, after renewing his ski gear hire. We were easily the oldest perhaps here, perhaps doubly older than most in the bar, but who cares? The place is small, like most places in Niseko, but warm and inviting. We had a stool by the window and close the the log fire with a candle for ambiance and loud music for atmosphere. Our drink of choice was a hot buttered rum. Not something I would ever normally drink (having written myself as a teen on white rum many years ago) but just the thing for a cold night. Served in a glass cup with a slice of lemon, the drink was smooth, warm, tasty and hit the spot perfectly. Perhaps I'll have a hot buttered rum one night in winter at home. Although it will never ever be as cold as the weather in Niseko and if it is, I'm moving! |
Pepper Wine Bar - Applecross
20th November 2015 4/5 Went for an after work drink on Friday and loved the place. Happy hour from 5-6 was a bonus. The tapas was perfect. Fresh and hot. Table service was excellent. Personally I don't like the distraction of a big screen TV but at least we had the cricket scores! Was very quiet after happy hour but perhaps it gets busy again later. |
